Every Saturday morning you can enjoy the local Waikanae Farmers Market, everything from fresh free range eggs, gift ideas and secondhand goods, cheap quality fruit and veges, jams, oils, cheeses and much much more!  (Postponed due to Covid-19 - reopening early July!)

Our favorite local walk:  No matter what your fitness level, you will love the Waikanae River walk... 

Our district has a wonderful network of cycling and walking trails that are safe and accessible for people of all ages and levels of fitness. To make it easy for you to get out and explore our trails we can supply easy-to-read maps that list ten trails covering more than 100 kilometres of the Kāpiti Coast.  So load up your bike, grab your walking shoes and get out and explore. (Bike hire available).

Ngarara Road, Waikanae.  A unique opportunity to see a diverse range of native birdlife, flora and fauna in just one visit.  Daily feeding tours 11am and 2pm.  

Located on Otaihanga Road, Kapiti Coast - a 5 min drive from Kapiti Gateway Motel.  Over 350 vehicles, three aircraft and various other exhibits including motorcycles, bicyles and a fire engine. World renowned museum

Mahara Place, Waikanae Village.  Offering a diversity of curated group and solo exhibitions in contemporary art and cultural heritage.  Combine with delicious coffee and cake at one of the nearby village cafes.
