Walk or Cycle the Waikanae River...our favourite local walk

If you are keen on the outdoors, no matter what your fitness level, you will love the Waikanae River Walk.

Both the north and south banks of Waikanae River have good walking tracks. The Southbank winds through parkland and trees, while the Northbank takes in the estuary with its bird life and coastal views.

Several walk bridges cross the river so you can enjoy both sides.

The scenery is stunning, you will want to take photos, and you may want to take a picnic to enjoy on one of the many reserves along the way. Or there are several cafes not far off the walking track.
